What You Need to Know This Week.
Hotels Have a World Cup Problem. And STR Hosts Are Feeling It Too.

Hotel bookings for the 2026 World Cup are running well below projections, according to a new NPR report. Cities that expected a travel surge are seeing softer demand than anticipated.
The STR world tends to mirror these trends. When big travel events underperform for hotels, short-term rental demand usually tells a similar story. Worth keeping an eye on if you're in a World Cup market this summer.
Airbnb's Q1 2026 Numbers Are In. Here's What Hosts Need to Know.

Airbnb posted a strong Q1 — revenue up 18% year-over-year to $2.7 billion, nights booked growing 9%, and first-time booker growth at its highest since early 2022.
On the host side, Airbnb is rolling out improved pricing tools and a redesigned onboarding flow. Good news overall, though more supply entering the market is always worth keeping an eye on.
