Superhost callout

The 4 Numbers Airbnb Uses to Decide You're Worth 60% More

What Superhosts Really Earn

Superhosts earn 60% more than hosts who aren't, according to Airbnb's own data, based on median earnings between October 2023 and October 2024. A different figure, 29%, gets repeated everywhere else online and traces back to nowhere official. Airbnb's own number is more than double that.

59% of guests say Superhost status makes them more confident booking a place, according to that same data. That trust is what turns the search boost into an actual booking.

The 4 Requirements for Superhost Status

All confirmed directly on Airbnb's own site: At least 10 stays a year (or 3 stays totaling 100+ nights), a cancellation rate under 1%, a response rate of 90% or higher, and an overall rating of 4.8 or better. Hit all 4 in a rolling 12-month window, and the badge is automatic.

Your response time or your cancellation habits are the 2 most common reasons hosts fall short, and that gap is costing you 60% of the revenue Superhosts are pulling in.

How Response Rate Gets Calculated

Airbnb defines it specifically: The percentage of new guest inquiries you've answered within 24 hours. Miss that window on a handful of messages, and your response rate drops fast, even if you eventually reply.

The fix Airbnb itself recommends is quick replies saved message templates you can send instantly for the questions you get asked constantly. Set those up once, and the 24-hour clock stops being a problem you have to remember.

Your Pricing Affects Your Odds Too

One detail buried in Airbnb's own advice: Listings priced lower than similar nearby properties tend to rank higher in search. That's the same comp set logic we broke down a few weeks ago. Pricing against the wrong properties costs you money and hurts your Superhost odds at the same time.

The Badge With No Clear Minimum

Airbnb's also been building a second badge, Guest Favorite. Confirmed straight from Airbnb's own announcement: These listings average above 4.9 stars, but unlike Superhost, there's no official minimum. Airbnb's own CEO has said the badge runs on a dynamic model that shifts as new ratings come in, no fixed cutoff at all.

Superhost tells you exactly what bar to clear. Guest Favorite doesn't.

Check Your Own 4 Numbers

Pull up your Airbnb dashboard. It shows your stays, cancellation rate, response rate, and rating side by side. Compare each one against the requirement: 10 stays, under 1% cancellations, 90%+ response rate, 4.8+ overall. Whichever number falls short is what's keeping you out of Superhost.

Every figure in this email comes straight from Airbnb's own page. Go check yours against it.
