Bad Property
I can't believe I'm about to share this, but here we go—story time.
Not every part of hosting is picture-perfect, and honestly, the mistakes and oopsies teach us just as much, if not more, than the wins.
So, I decided to drop by one of my Airbnb properties that I hadn't visited in, oh, let's say, forever.
I walked in, and it was like stepping into a comedy of errors (minus the comedy).
First off, the door lock was sooo loose, it was practically doing the Macarena. The walls? Cracked like a dropped iPhone screen (special thanks to the "landlord special" by the previous owner).
Then there was the toilet seat—that refused to stay up.
And let's not forget the cleaner's thoughtful note scribbled on cardboard: "Extra towels under the sink." Classy, right? 😬
My friend Bella also pointed out we only had two pillows per bed (Rule of thumb: Four pillows per bed. Always.)
Aaaand the bathroom amenities looked like a yard sale of random shampoo bottles.
At that moment, it hit me hard: I had seriously neglected this property.
So, I planned a full refresh and reinvestment and it seriously paid off.
Here's what you should learn from my sad, sad, story:
- Always, and I mean ALWAYS, visit your properties regularly.
- If you're launching an Airbnb, go all in from day one. Waiting to "reinvest later" is like waiting for the next season of your favorite show—painful and unnecessary.
- Investing in your existing properties can yield a better ROI than hunting for new ones—trust me on this.
